A Nasa image of seven Earth-sized worlds orbiting a cool dwarf star known as TRAPPIST-1 in the newly discovered solar system 40 light years from Earth. However, the new system contains an unprecedented number of Earth-sized, probably rocky, planets and is being hailed as an “accelerated leap forward” in the search for extraterrestrial life. Astronomers at NASA say they’ve found seven planets roughly the size of Earth that could have liquid water on their surfaces.”This discovery could be a significant piece in the puzzle of finding habitable environments, places that are conducive to life”, said Thomas Zurbuchen, from NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. Ole Miss facing further NCAA allegations
During the 2016 National Football League draft, former Ole Miss LT LaremyTunsil admitted receiving money from Rebels coaches. He said the school also says evidence exists to support some – but not all – of another new allegation. Find out more from Professor of Astrophysics, Tim O’ Brien. Three are in what’s called the star’s “habitable zone”, an area where they’re neither too hot or too cold to have liquid water. The seven planets circle tightly around Trappist-1, a dim dwarf star that’s barely the size of Jupiter. The agency made the announcement today in a news conference and published the findings in the journal Nature.Lewis said TRAPPIST-1 F is the most water rich planet and TRAPPIST-1 G is the largest of the planets in the habitable zone. Bojan Bogdanovic traded from Nets to Washington Wizards, report says
Nicholson is in his first year with the Wizards after spending the first four years of his career with the Orlando Magic. He added that the 27-year-old is a starter in the National Basketball Association and is a bench “boost”. With the help of ground-based telescopes, including the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope, Spitzer confirmed the existence of two of these planets and found five more. The planets may also be “tidally locked” to their star, not rotating as Earth does and keeping each side in perpetual day or night, JPL officials said. The planets have to be just the right distance from their star to have a chance of supporting life. Trappist-1f is a little further from the star, but its orbit still lasts only nine days. The planet system is being dubbed TRAPPIST-1, and each of the planets are given letters b through h. The Hubble launched in 1990 and has produced observations used in more than 14,000 scientific papers.”In a few billion years, when the Sun has run out of fuel and the solar system has ceased to exist, TRAPPIST-1 will still be only an infant star“. Philippines: If China builds on shoal, it would strain ties
Duterte has downplayed the Philippines’ claims to the shoal, which is effectively controlled by China, in a bid to cozy up to Beijing.
